About

A Familiar Storey: Local, Family-Owned Business

Paul Motz-Storey has lived a life immersed in the business of houses, from childhood to present. He worked with his father to draft blueprints and build houses in high school, and designed and built his first spec home in 1983. After graduating from college and completing a master’s degree, Paul began investing in fix-up houses. After several years, he obtained his own real estate license since he couldn’t find an agent who understood how to find good fix-up and investment properties. He now has over 30 years of home remodeling experience and over 20 years of experience as a real estate agent. This allows Paul to look at house listings with a highly knowledgable eye: he knows from experience how to identify what work a house needs and how expensive it will be, as well as make educated estimates of how much certain renovations will increase the value of a property.

Paul lends his expertise to numerous areas of community service: he served for many years as the president of the board of directors for Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity, has led volunteer work trips to Selian Lutheran Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania, and is an active member of Mountain View Friends Meeting, where he advises the building and grounds committee. He incorporates green building practices into his designs, since making use of salvage materials is often not only environmentally sustainable but also quite inexpensive. He lives with his wife Lisa in the green home that he designed and built himself in Evergreen, where he enjoys visits from his two adult children, Sarah and Damon, as well as his granddaughter.

Lisa Motz-Storey has 20+ years of experience as a hospice chaplain and has extensive experience in event planning and fundraising. She has been leading and coordinating volunteers to support Selian Lutheran Hospice in Arusha, Tanzania since 2003. As Storey Real Estate & Construction expanded, she transitioned to supporting the business full-time and now works on searching for listings, setting up showings, transaction coordination, and many other essential tasks. Lisa holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Div. focused on pastoral counseling. She enjoys getting to know a wide range of people and their interests as she talks with families about what qualities they want and need in their next home or investment property.

DamonDamon Motz-Storey recently graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics with minors in Education and Music from Haverford College in Pennsylvania. He grew up working for and learning from Paul and was immersed in various aspects of real estate and construction work. At Haverford, he was the social media and website manager of a number of different student groups, which resulted in well-attended gigs for his a cappella group and other events on campus. He currently manages and creates content for the social media and web presences of the business and helps with rental property management and maintenance. Long-term, he hopes to pursue a career in secondary education and/or nonprofit work.
